Anonymous analytics - how and why?
Added link to broader description on database & its options.
AssistantComputerControl includes analytics-gathering as of v1.1.0. The information gathered is minimal, and limited to what happens in the software itself. No personal information is gathered what so ever - nothing on your, your computer, your location or anything remotely personal. Read the FAQ below to get a better understanding of what we gather and why.
Can I say no?
Of course you can! Once you upgrade from an older version of ACC to v1.1.0, or download it for the first time, you will be asked whether you want to have anonymous sharig of analytics on or off. This can be changed at any time in the settings (right-click the ACC icon in the taskbar and click "settings", there you'll find a checkbox saying "Send anonymous analytics")
Upon declining (or accepting), the answer is logged and sent to the ACC database for statistic purposes, but if you've declied; that's it - from that point on, no info will be sent to the ACC servers without your consent.
Why gather analytics?
The information that we gather helps us get a better understanding of how the users use AssistantComputerControl; what's not used so much, what's popular, how many actions are executed per. day, which assistant do people use and so on.
All of it sent to our servers where we can analyze it, and make ACC better.
What exactly is gathered?
Upon installation of ACC, the user is given a unique ID, and every time an action is executed, it's saved on the user's computer. If analytics is enabled, the user's ID will be sent once every 12 hours (on startup of ACC or on exit), and include the following information;
- The user's ID
- The amount that each action has been executed
- The type of assistant used to execute the action (Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa or "unknown")
- The date of execution
- Whether the application automatically starts with Windows
- The ACC version
- If the user has the "beta program" enabled
And that's it. We're only interested in gathering just enough info to help us make ACC better, and sharing analytics with us helps us do that!
Is the information shared?
No. We don't share the analytics with any third party. The information might be displayed on the ACC website, but only for internal use.
