Fixing IFTTT errors

Experiencing IFTTT issues? Let's see what we can do about that

The IFTTT activity page says "Applet failed"

If your applets keep failing, the fix is almost always to reconnect your assistant & cloud service account to the platform.

If you're using Google Assistsant, go to this page and click the "Remove Google Assistant" button WARNING: this will remove all your Google Assistant applets, so you will have to re-enable or remake them
Once removed, reconnect your account.

If you're using Amazon Alexa the process is the same, just go to this page instead and remove the connection by pressing "Remove Amazon Alexa" WARNING: this will remove all your Amazon Alexa applets, so you will have to re-enable or remake them_
Once removed, reconnect your account.

Now for the cloud services, click here for Dropbox, here for OneDrive and here for Google Drive. Press the "Remove ..." button (which will, warning, remove all your applets that use the cloud service).
Once your cloud service account is removed, reconnect it.

This should do it! If not, refer to the other sections of this article or the Troubleshooting (FAQ) guide.

Check cloud service connection

If the software isn't working, it's often times because the file IFTTT is trying to create never makes it to your computer for the software to read it. One of the common issues is that you might have multiple accounts for the same cloud service.

To check whether this is the issue, navigate to the cloud service settings on IFTTT (click here for Dropbox, here for OneDrive and here for Google Drive). Each service will say "Connected as" and show your name or email. Now, navigate to the cloud service settings on your computer and see if the name / email matches.

To be 100% completely sure that the accounts are the same, you can log out of the cloud service on your computer and remove the connection to it on IFTTT (this will remove all the applets connected to your cloud service though - you will need to re-enable or remake them). Once both your PC and your IFTTT account is free of your cloud service account, reconnect the account, and make sure you enter the exact same email and password for both.
